Hummus and Spill Pot

This Sunday passed by in a blink. Worked on some projects, ate a whole lot of hummus and yeah — that’s basically it. Here are a few updates.

One. How to be a hyper-connected person.

Sat down with Saurabh this morning to record for The Adulting Podcast. The topic? Things a 21yo should do today to be extremely well connected by the time they are 25. That 90-minute chat is the most elaborate guide you need to get started.

I won’t tell you much, but here’s one cool activity.

  1. Think of 5-6 buckets of jobs you can see yourself doing in the future. For me, it would be — live entertainment, startups, something for the lives of women, design, etc.
  2. Now, in each of those, you want to identify 3 kinds of people:
    1. Those who are the leaders of the industry today + could be your mentors
    2. Those who will remain in the industry 5 years from now + could be your collaborators
    3. Friends and supporters who would be your cheerleaders
  3. And then, make friends with them. The what, why, how, etc are on the final video.

Two. Spill pot. Didn’t sleep last night because I had this itch to scratch.

For some reason, I felt inspired and terribly passioned to build an online sticker store. To put a Buy Button on all my doodles and other art-pieces. A lot of people have told me to do this — even if it’s just for the sake of it. Had a migraine last night and once I got out of that, that’s all I felt like doing.

So here I am, toiling away on my laptop between Razor Pay, WordPress, Shopify, PhonePe, YouTube, Grok, Gemini, Pinterest, Canva — all the guns — trying to make this thing happen. You will find my constant updates on this thread here. As I write this, my progress has been making my first listing. The next step is to set up the payment gateway. And then, we’re open for business!

The WIP website is live on SpillPot.com. I might just change everything on it a couple of weeks. But it was really important I scrambled something together day. And now that I am closer than ever to that first Ka-ching, I can’t wait to post this blog and get back to figuring things out.

Why is it called Spill Pot? What do I plan to do with it? Et al? Long, long story. Read it tomorrow. But until then, does someone here know how fastrack the Payment Gateway process? Phew!

Three. Happy birthday, Krishna.

Today is the birthday of this one friend from school I’ll never forget. Krishna. The reason I remember her is because she once told me she wanted to be an actress. And back then, in my head, being an actress or having a glamorous exciting career wasn’t for some kid in Gorakhpur. Maybe someone from a fancier place was fit for those kind of dreams. Krishna taught me very early on how to dream. In fact, she even wrote a note for me saying, “Come watch my blockbuster movie on 16th March, 2020.”

I’d always rooted for this dream of hers. Because if she would have become an actress, I could believe I had a fighting chance for anything I wanted as well. She was, to me, a guidepost for the kind of person I wanted to be. Her confidence bolstered mine.

This was in 5th or 6th grade. I have since then lost touch. Nor have I met her. From what I know, she’s also not a big-screen actress. But I do hope she’s doing things her heart finds joy in. So that. Thank you Krishna. Hope you have the nicest birthday <3
