I am trying to replace my crispy dinner-time diet coke with a crunchy docs.new.
The last few weeks, I have picked up a bunch of unhealthy, hedonistic habits. Odd sleeping hours, not moving my body, sweet treats every meal, procrastinating every single day, not living by the sacred calendar.google.com, all that.
Many reasons. But it often starts with one thing and one time and before you know it, life’s all crazy. The problem I have is, I believe I’ll take care of it. And the next time, I think I’ll take care of it more. And the next time…you get the drill. (Whoops, am I now of the age where I use ellipses in my writing. Wow!)
Anyhow, back to my haywire life. The last two days have felt PRETTY meh. I went to bed last night hoping to wake up at 6 and get all my shit together. Yes, it’s literally how I solve all my problems. That, or a long walk. Or a couple hours of sitting alone at Starbucks with my laptop. If none of these make a difference, it’s intervention time.
I opened my eyes this morning at 9 AM. Not too bad. But enough for me to spiral. Possibly. If I wanted to. But I was not giving this funk any more of my youth. So, I fed myself some good fats + protein forward breakfast. Put on a cute fit, went to the gym and spent some three hours doing this. (Yeah, I don’t know either.) Got a glimpse of my biceps brachii pop while doing the bicep curl and felt 10000% cool. I think I get the gym junkies now. More on that soon.
Got coffee. Got home. Got lunch.
Sat down to work. Did some things on Atlas and Draupadi on the Dais (backlinks and all that.) Claude died till about tonight. Was about to doom-scroll. Chose to go get my 10k steps instead. And oh, got the one-sec app to block all my boredom-default social media opens. AND IT HAS ALREADY STOPPED ME 24 TIMES FROM SCROLLING RANDOM FEEDS. Should have never deleted the app in the first place.
On my walk, I also caught up on the latest few episodes of the MFM podcast. The Carlyle guy episode. And brands. And one more. And one of the things that somehow came to mind was that I need to have 1000x more sense of urgency. And equal parts patience. In life, work and whatever I do. And that these are two different things. They also chatted about this other idea. That I have encountered multiple times, but never a bad time for a top-up. That in business, you only have to be right once. And that compounding works in miraculous ways. Must do more things, regularly, for a long time. To see the magic happen.
I think the heaps of exercise wringed the funk out of me. And the pod episodes injected a sense of chill-the-fuck-out-and-have-fun-in-what-you-are-up-to.
Guess I needed that.
Anyhow, it’s 10:07. And I have a 7 AM accountability job (cus I can’t run long enough yet) scheduled. So I shall post this, read a few pages of the Almanack and doze off.
Good night dosto. I shall write again soon.
Ps: I really want to go somewhere by myself. I might. Perhaps next month. For a day or two. And just be. Get nice food. Colour a little. Make a video-capsule. Or something.
