Scratch notes: Value chain

Hello, hello!

The best thing that happened to me today was getting a clean chit from my eye doctors. My retina in alright and glaucoma is in check. Even the power prescription was down but the doctor suggested I go with what I already have. So that. I was dilated for the so I took a nap till about 6 PM and then hung out at the beach. Got a salad at Jamjar. And now at home to work. Gulped down a red bull in the evening, so I figured I’d spend all this extra energy on work instead of whiling away on the Internet. So that. Today will just be some rough notes from this evening.

One. Value chain.

A couple of days back, I asked Saurabh — “How to make money?” And since, then we’ve been thinking and chatting about multiple things that surround the idea of building money, creating value, businesses, all that. Today, we began talking about something called the Value Chain.

Value chain: The full range of activities that a company undertakes to bring a product or service from its conception to its final consumers.

Simply, everything that needs to be done to deliver value (product, service, whatever it is you offer) to your customer. Not to be confused with the supply chain. That is just how things move and flow from making point to the hands of your customer. Value chain is all the effort you’d put in to get your offering to customer. At each point in the value chain, someone adds some value. And they make money off it accordingly. But what defines how much money that is?

Now this could be a function of multiple things. Being close to the customer seems highly important — think SaaS companies taking rapid feedback from the customers, or an account manager interacting directly with the client or HCPs that perhaps spend a lot of time understanding patient history and background. Basically, understanding needs, gathering the right kind of data and finding better ways to offer that value. Plus, controlling the customer experience and tailored information. Wow — this is coming out to like one of my exam answers. I’ll put this in simpler words and write a longer post soon.

Two. It can happen tomorrow.

I slept terribly upset last night. Mostly because I didn’t feel like I had done enough through the day. And same with today honestly — slept because of the eyes and didn’t finish much. I guess I am yet to learn + build the habit of going to bed knowing that today wasn’t what I wanted it to be. Instead of staying up the night and trying to milk a day’s worth. That messes up the next day for me. And the cycle continues. Plus, not all days are the same. And no one’s dying. It will all be fine. So that. I’ve had my coffee, so I can’t do that today. But going forward, I must choose better. People around me — point this out please? Thanks <3

And bas.

And oh, here’s my Rule-of-thirds sheet for the day.
