What would I do if I was 18?

Today’s post is inspired by @levelsio’s two year old post titled “What would I do if I was 18?” And I realise I am older than 18 today. And thus, must have an answer to this. When I started thinking about this, only work-related things came to life. For the sake of completeness, I will take the life-spider thingy and talk about 3 things I’d do under each part of life.

  1. Health
    1. Would eat a lot more ghar-ka-khana. And avoid all those after- school rolls and momo parties.
    2. Pick up some sport I enjoy and do it more often. At least 3x a week. Swimming, skating, basketball, etc.
    3. Go sit out in the sun and start building a sleep routine.
  2. Family
    1. Pick fights but hear them out. Walk half the compromise on things.
    2. Spend more time with my baby-bros. They grow up to be teens and adults very fast.
    3. Go more veggie shopping with my Grandma. And record that documentary thing of her talking about life and sharing stories.
  3. Friends
    1. Make a lot more of them. Go to parties, talk to people, be stupid, be embarrassing. But get to know as many people as you can.
    2. Be far more realistic. If you’re lucky, maybe one of them will stick around. If you’re really lucky, you’ll learn no one will. And that’s alright.
    3. Wish every single one on their birthdays. Send them flowers and cake and cards. Even if you haven’t talked in a while. (On that note, Happy birthday-eve Priyanshi)
  4. Finances
    1. Buy more stupid things. It’s alright.
    2. Start keeping track of what you do with your money.
    3. Learn how to make and save money.
  5. Recreation
    1. Skip the exam, go for the family trip.
    2. Finish your art and craft projects. Take a ton of process pictures and write a blog about them. Or heck, make a video through it. And dump it on YouTube.
    3. START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
  6. Personal growth
    1. Read more.
    2. Write even more.
    3. Go see a therapist. And keep going regularly.
  7. Career
    1. Quit if it’s not for you.
    2. Pick one thing. Write, sing, dance, take a silly picture, pluck a leaf, whatever. And do it on the Internet everyday. Blast it everywhere.
    3. If you like someone on the Internet, mail them. Let the words be sloppy, doesn’t matter. But write in.
  8. Workspace
    1. Get more involved. Ask for more things to do.
    2. Ask more questions. Especially Why.
    3. Go talk to everyone who’s there. About anything and everything.
  9. Romance
    1. Don’t forget your worth.
    2. Be foolish. Be passionate. They’re all stories to tell.
    3. Wait.

Now that I have this list, 22 doesn’t sound so bad to start. In 5 years, I’ll be just 27. And bas. And oh, here’s my Rule-of-thirds sheet for the day.

Anshika – on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Ps: I share interesting links and stories that tickle my brain through the day on this WhatsApp group. Most of it doesn’t make it to these blogs, but should you like to join — here.

And oh, write back. I love getting messages 💌
